In 1984 the organisation was joined by Mrs Diane Nehme. Diane quickly learned the work and became a popular member of the team. Diane worked with Sheila Hamblett who was the office manager.
In 1991 the office moved to Jerdan Place, Sheila and Diane continued to work very happily together until Sheila’s untimely death in 1996. During 1996 Diane Nehme encouraged Dave Page, who was coaching staff members in the use of computers, to look into the possibility of setting up a web site specifically for the organisation.
In 1998 Diane became Secretary of the charity and joined the Trustees. She took this role very seriously and attended all Committee meetings unless she was ill. She was recently involved in signing the Audited Accounts, yet another of her responsibilities as Secretary. Soon after the office moved to Dawes Road in 2001, Diane chose to work from home, and she did so until she died. Diane spoke to many clients who continued to seek support on a long- term basis. At some public events that APNI held, we were approached by clients who said that without Diane’s support they would not be alive.
Diane believed strongly in what APNI tries to do and she has played her part in that work for 40 years. She leaves a legacy that her family can be very proud of having helped thousands of women and saved many with her kind and compassionate nature.
